Este detector de tensión de contacto está diseñado para operaciones de Comprobación de Ausencia de Tensión Nominal (VATn), para verificar que una tensión nominal está realmente ausente de un circuito en un sistema de AT. Sus dos o tres rangos de tensión de funcionamiento están calibrados de acuerdo con
recomendaciones de la CEI entre 1 kV y 69 kV :

- El aparato debe detectar cualquier tensión nominal en contacto con la parte de la instalación a comprobar en una red o en una subestación.
- No indicará la presencia de tensión cuando detecte tensiones inducidas para permitir las operaciones de puesta a tierra.
